LOT 340 1807 S-271 R1 “Comet Obverse,” Small Fraction, PCGS AU Detail, Environmental Damage . Attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate with frosty lighter brown and tan in protected areas. Smooth with very nice eye appeal, but a glass reveals some marks. There are four tiny pits under the ear, a very fine vertical scratch down from the ear, and several very tiny contact marks, mostly on the portrait. A small nick high above ONE is the only mark visible to the unaided eye. MDS, Breen state IV. The “Comet” flaw behind the head is flat but clear. Noyes graded VF35 net F15, his photo #28024. Our grade is net VF20. An attractive cent with the eye appeal of a VF30 grade. 36454.97/56556706

LOT 341 1807/6 S-272 R4+ Overdate Small 7 over 6, PCGS VG Detail, Exc. Corrosion . A bit sharper than the assigned grade but moderately corroded under slightly glossy olive brown and chocolate toning. No verdigris, and the only notable contact mark is a diagonal scratch on the jaw. The date is strong, the overdate is clear, and the legends are complete. MDS, Breen state II, before any die cracks. Graded VG8 net G6 and tied for CC#23 in the Noyes census, his photo #25651. Our grade is net G6. An imperfect but still decent lower grade example of this popular “Redbook” variety. 36439.97/56549999
