FRED BORCHERDT’S HALL OF FAME COLLECTION 1793-1814 CENTS
LOT 28 1794 S-27 R5 Head of 1794 VG8 . Mostly glossy dark steel and olive brown with lighter chocolate and steel brown on the highpoints. The obverse was lightly burnished creating a higher than normal gloss on that side, and there are traces of fine roughness and shallow verdigris on the reverse. The notable marks are some small ticks above and below the earlobe and a rim nick at the first A in AMERICA. MDS, Breen state II late, Heck state 2, with a clearly defined wave from the rim to the hair under the cap and a very subtle wave in the field from the chin to the right. The date is bold and the legends are clear.
