FRED BORCHERDT’S HALL OF FAME COLLECTION 1793-1814 CENTS

EQUAL FINEST S-220 EX NAFTZGER

LOT 280 1801 S-220 R3 Error Fraction 1/000, PCGS graded AU53 . Frosty golden tan and light steel brown with slightly darker steel brown on the highpoints. There are some small puffs of darker olive brown on the obverse, mostly at LIBERTY. The only notable contact marks are an arc of impressed dentils on the bust into the field. M-LDS, Breen state VII, with die cracks on both sides, a series of small cuds under the date, and a rim cud connecting AM to the rim. Graded EF45 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU55 net EF45 and tied for CC#1, his photo #21794. Our grade is EF45. This is the plate coin for the die variety in the 1991 Noyes reference. A great examples of an interesting die state. 36275.53/61275966
