EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 263 1800 S-207 R3 VF25 . Glossy medium chocolate brown with traces of frosty lighter brown on the reverse. Sharp and smooth, but there are some marks keeping it from a higher grade. The notable marks are a collection of small nicks on the bust and lower neck, some more at the E in ONE and the leaf above, and fine hairlines on the obverse. None of these marks is distracting but there are too many to ignore at this grade level. MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks above LIB and a cud break touching the bottom of the first 0 in the denominator. Graded VF35 net VF20 and tied for CC#10 in the Noyes census, his photo #25579.

SPECTACULAR FINEST TERMINAL S-207
LOT 264 1800 S-207 R3, PCGS XF Detail, Cleaned . At least 5 points sharper than our assigned grade but there are some contact marks on otherwise smooth, attractive surfaces. The notable marks are a relatively strong nick under the earlobe, a couple rim nicks over the E in LIBERTY, and some very fine hairline scratches across the face. Only the nick below the earlobe catches your eye. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown on the left side of the obverse. Extremely rare TDS, Breen state V, with a huge retained cud break that virtually obliterates RICA and most of the denominator. The opposing details at IBERTY are severely weakened because the cud used up most of the planchet metal. Graded F15 Choice and finest of the terminal die state in the Noyes census, his photo #21804. Our grade is F15. The second finest example is impounded in the ANS Collection. This is the Noyes plate coin for the variety in his 1991 reference. A showpiece coin for anyone who loves significant die states; one of the most impressive cud breaks on any large cent. 36209.92/56549986 Ex Lohr-Stack’s auction-Eugene Exman-Dorothy I.
