FRED BORCHERDT’S HALL OF FAME COLLECTION 1793-1814 CENTS

LOT 230 1798 S-181 R3 Small 8, Style II Hair VF25 . Ten points sharper but the fields and protected areas on the reverse are covered with fine granularity. The obverse is smooth and choice, and the toning on both sides is an attractive and mostly glossy light olive brown and chocolate with lighter brown in some protected areas. The only marks are a small nick on the rim off the upper edge of the bust and a nick at the leaf tip below the F in OF. LDS, Breen state IV, with a slightly raised retained cud break at the end of the bust. Graded VF30 and tied for CC#10 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF25 and tied for CC#10, his photo #26013.
