LOT 159 1797 S-130 R2 VF25 . Sharpness EF40 but lightly burnished and nicely retoned long ago, now toned glossy brown and light olive. The only notable mark is a small chip in the field off the chin. M-LDS, Breen state IV late, with die cracks on the obverse and clashmarks on the reverse, but the small chip at the tip of the nose has not formed. Graded EF40 net VF20 and tied for CC#30 in the Noyes census, his photo #29201.

FROSTY STEMLESS WREATH S-131

LOT 160 1797 S-131 R2 Stemless Wreath PCGS graded AU55 . Frosty steel and olive brown with traces of lighter golden tan faded down from mint color in protected areas on the reverse. Mint luster shows in the protected areas on both sides and this cent has excellent eye appeal. No spots or stains, only light friction on the devices and trivial contact marks on smooth surfaces. The notable marks are some nicks at the eyebrow and a thin nick on the cheek near the earlobe. E-MDS, Breen state II. There is a small chip hanging down from the end of the nose but no crack into the field from the lower curls. The nearly vertical crack in the field before the portrait is clear. Struck with the obverse slightly misaligned to K-3. Noyes photo #60627. Not seen by Bland. Our grade is EF40 ; among the top 3 or four examples of the variety in our opinion. A very nice example of the Stemless Wreath type. 35981.55/32782913
