THE GARRETT S-120B GRIPPED EDGE

LOT 145 1797 S-120b R2 Reverse of 1796, Gripped Edge VF35 . Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with lighter brown in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and the only notable marks are a faint vertical hairline scratch from the forehead to the shoulder and some more near the rim over the bust. The best identifying mark is a tiny spot of darker toning in the field before the mouth. TDS, Breen state VI, with crumbling along the profile from the forehead down to the throat and a fine die crack through the lowest curl to the rim off the lower end of the hair ribbon. The “Grip” marks on the edge are strong. Graded EF45 net EF40 and CC#9 in the Noyes census, his photo #26540. Comes with a nice provenance.
