FINEST 1793 SHELDON-2 CHAIN AMERICA
LOT 3 1793 S-2 R4+ Chain AMERICA PCGS graded MS63+ . Lustrous Light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Lighter golden tan shows in protected areas on the reverse and satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas on both sides. Sharply struck and nearly flawless with great eye appeal. A small spot of lighter reddish brown planchet slag near the rim left of the L is the only notable defect. LDS, Breen state II, with dull die clashmarks on the obverse and a subtle wave through the base of the date and in the field behind the head. Graded MS62 and finest known of the variety as the only mint state example in the Noyes census, his photo #36457. Bland says AU55 and tied for CC#2 in his census, but a photo comparison with his #1 example clearly shows this is the sharper coin with superior color and surfaces. Unfortunately Del Bland, an undisputed luminary in the areas of early large cents and a good friend to this cataloger, is no longer available to take a second look. Our grade is MS60+ . A premium cent is every respect; the undisputed highlight of this remarkable collection. 35435.63+/57536981
