EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

1796 S-83 R4 Liberty Cap PCGS graded VF35 . Slightly sharper but the toning is uneven and there are some stains of reddish chocolate mixed with glossy medium brown and light olive. Traces of microscopic roughness can be found in some of the stained areas but overall the surfaces are smooth. The only notable marks are a couple dull ones left of the cap. M-LDS, Breen state II, with a strong die crack through ERTY to the dentils off both ends. Graded F12 by Bland. Noyes says VF20 net F12 and tied for CC#11, his photo #33077. CHOICE S-84 LIBERTY CAP

LOT 97 1796 S-84 R3 Liberty Cap PCGS graded AU58 . Choice glossy light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown on the highpoints and frost in protected areas. Smooth and beautiful with light wear and trivial marks; a tiny rim nick over the N in UNITED is a good identifying mark. MDS, Breen state III, with a fine die crack through the top of OF to above the adjacent S. Graded EF45 net EF40 and tied for CC#14 in the Noyes census, his photo #29108 (no idea why the 5-point deduction). Our grade is EF45. A beautiful 1796 Liberty Cap cent. 35759.58/57516979
