EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 714 1855 N-12 R1 Upright 55 EF45+. Glossy light olive and brown. Smooth and attractive with light wear on the devices, close to AU50. Just trivial marks including a couple ticks right of star 13 and a tiny diagonal scratch over CE in CENT. MDS, die state b. The early die lines at the inner curl are gone and the fields are lightly flowlined.
LOT 715 1855 N-13 R3 Upright 55 AU55. Choice glossy tan and light brown with frost in the fields and protected areas. Sharp with a hint of wear and great eye appeal. A small nick on the truncation over the 8 can help identify this cent. E-MDS, die state b. The fine diagonal die lines from the right top of the E in ONE are sharp and the fields are lightly flowlined.

LOT 716 1856 N-1 R1 Italic 5 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous bright mint red fading to light steel brown on the highpoints, about 70% of the mint red remaining. The only defects are faint traces of an old fingerprint in the field at the top of the obverse and in the center of the reverse. The fingerprints are not distracting and the only notable mark is a small rim nick left of star 5. Otherwise this piece is a gem. E-MDS, die state a late. The die lines at UN are dull but visible. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 406195.63/81102425 Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 9/2010:1262-Chris McCawley 1/22/2015-Fred Iskra Collection, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/ Goldbergs 9/4/2016:376-Fred H. LOT 717 1856 N-1 R1 Italic 5 AU50+. An attractive mint state cent that has been recolored dark chocolate brown. Satiny with nice eye appeal. The only notable mark is a planchet flake in the dentils right of the date (as struck). Extremely rare M-LDS, die state c, with a clearly defined rim cud over ST. CC#2 of only 5 confirmed examples of this die state in the Grellman census.
