EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 607 1844 N-1 R-1 VF20 . Ten points sharper but cleaned and now tone dark chocolate and olive browns with deep blue steel toning on the obverse. There is a trivial tick on Liberty’s cheek. Smooth surfaces. 

LOT 611 1845 N-4 R-1 VF30 . AU sharpness but dark with light granularity on the surfaces. Slightly glossy deep charcoal and olive patina. Free of notable marks.

LOT 608 1844/81 N-2 R-2 ANACS F12 . Dark chocolate brown with lighter brown on the devices and legends contrasting nicely, and a swipe of deeper charcoal on the right reverse. There are wispy nicks and hairline scratches on the cheek, upper neck, before the lips, and one left of star 11. Smooth surfaces, clear overdate feature. Our grade is F12. 7341291

LOT 612 1845 N-4 R-1 F15 . Five points sharper but there are old scratches on either side. The notable ones include on between stars 10 and 11, another through C in CENT, and a couple tiny ones under NE in ONE. Mostly dark brown surfaces, a couple shades lighter on the central reverse.

LOT 609 1844 N-6e R-3+ EF40 . Five points sharper but there are minor nicks on the portrait and fields. The most notable include one before the nose, and a couple under O and over E in ONE. Chocolate brown and olive brown obverse, a couple shades lighter on the reverse. LDS, die state e. Broken out of an NGC AU 50 holder (3313375-006 label included).

LOT 613 1845 N-13 R-1 AU50 . Five points sharper but the obverse was cleaned long ago and now toned artificial reddish orange that has down toned to light steel brown. The reverse has been retoned an even medium brown. MDS, die state a.

LOT 610 1844 N-7 R-2 VF20 . EF40 sharpness but lightly corroded with microporosity visible under a glass. The most notable spot is before the nose, and the only mark is a tiny nick below star 8. Dark chocolate brown mottled with deep steel.

LOT 614 1846 N-9 R-2 EF40 . Five points sharper but recolored and now toned medium to dark olive and steel browns. There is some old crud built up very lightly in some protected areas, otherwise free of notable marks. E-MDS, die state b early.
