EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

HALF CENTS 

LOT 154 1793 C-1 R-3+ VG7 . Attractive rather glossy dark chocolate brown. Only the most trivial of marks, the most notable is a faint hairline scratch through the second T in STATES. Otherwise choice for the grade with smooth, hard surfaces. HALF CENT and ICA in AMERICA are gone, but the remaining legends are readable and date is strong. Manley State 2.0

LOT 156 1793 C-3 R-3 Head Left G6 . VG8+ but recolored and now attractive ruddy chocolate brown. There are few trivial marks in the fields. Nice smooth surfaces. Full date, LIBERTY, and peripheral reverse legends, while the central reverse is weak as is usual. EDS, Manley State 1.0.

LOT 155 1793 C-2 R-3 VG8+ . Glossy medium brown and light chocolate blending to darker olive brown in protected areas. Smooth and quite nice for the grade. The only distractions are a small planchet chip on the rim at K-4 on the obverse and a thin lamination void at the N in UNITED, both as struck. MDS with the reverse rotated 45 degrees clockwise relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. The date and legends are complete and clear. Removed from an old PCGS holder graded VG8, label #1000.08/4464178 included.
