LOT 140 1839 N-11 R1 Booby Head, PCGS graded MS65 Brown . Choice lustrous bluish steel and light chocolate brown with 10-15% of the mint color remaining, mostly on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. No spots or stains, just a few contact marks. The only notable ones are a collection of light nicks or short scuffs in the field midway between stars 11 & 12 and small rim nick over the second T in STATES. The best identifying mark is a pre-striking void in the dentils over the first T in STATES. EDS, die state a. Microscopic radial die flowlines are starting to show in the field near the dentil tips on both sides but the fine die lines behind ONE CENT are clear. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #34539. Bland says MS63 but tied for CC#4 in his census. Our grade is MS63. Comes with a nice provenance. LOT 141 1839 N-11 R1 Booby Head AU50 . Glossy light greenish olive with light reddish brown in some of the protected areas. Mint frost shows in the fields and protected areas. A sharp cent with just a light touch of friction on the devices. A tiny rim nick at the first A in AMERICA is the only notable sign of contact and there is a very shallow depression over star 12. MDS, die state b. The earlier tiny lumps on the reverse are gone but myriad fine die lines show around ONE CENT.
