THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION PART II  CHOICE N-5 BOOBY HEAD

LOT 130 1839 N-5 R2 Booby Head MS63+ . Very attractive lustrous light olive and steel brown with mellowed mint red in the fields and protected areas, especially on the reverse where the faded red is dominant. An impressive cent. No spots or stains, only a few minor marks. These include a thin horizontal nick on the nose, a tiny planchet lamination just below the 3 in the date, and a thin diagonal scuff over NE in ONE. MDS with microscopic die flowlines covering the fields. A beautiful cent, very close to MS64 in our opinion. Called MS65 choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20938. LOT 131 1839 N-5 R2 Booby Head, PCGS graded MS64 Brown . Frosty light bluish steel brown with traces of mint red in protected areas. Satiny mint luster covers this cent and the eye appeal is quite nice. A tiny nick on the cheek near the jawline and a speck of very light carbon at the dentils under the wreath are the notable defects, and they are not significant. MDS, die state b. The fields are covered with fine radial flowlines and the dentils are blurry. The early die lines over NITED are gone. An attractive Booby Head cent that comes with a special provenance. Purchased as a 65th birthday gift for Dan Holmes by his wife Joan. Graded MS62 and tied for CC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #74765. Our grade is MS60+. 37237.64/15115716
