THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION PART II
LOT 95 1837 N-11 R1 Beaded Hair Cord, PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved . Highly lustrous light bluish steel and olive with 5-10% of both sides showing mint red. A sharply struck cent with satiny surfaces and great eye appeal. The only marks are a few small spots including one near the hair under star 7 and another at the dentils under the 7, a speck of carbon on the rim over the F in OF, and another at the dentils between the A & M. EDS, die state a. The obverse fields are just starting to show microscopic radial flowlines but repunching is clearly visible on the left side of the 1 from the base to the serif, and the small dash right of the base is clear. Our grade is MS63 (but it has the eye appeal of a higher grade). 37138.65/27334380

LOT 96 1837 N-12 R3 Beaded Hair Cord, PCGS graded MS65 Red & Brown . Mint red mellowing to light steel brown on the highpoints, at least half the slightly faded mint color remaining on both sides. Nearly perfect, a tiny diagonal nick right of the top of the 7 in the date and a minor planchet lamination in the dentils over IC in AMERICA meandering down the right side of the C to the left foot of the adjacent A where it fades out. E-MDS, die state a, with fine radial die flowlines covering the fields on both sides. The “Accessory E” punched into the leaves under the E in AMERICA is sharp and the repunching on the 8 in the date is clear. Called MS70- and CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS65 and tied for CC#1, his photo #21342. Our grade is MS64+, close to MS65 . 37142.65/13092955 Ex Dr. George P. French, B. Max Mehl 1929 FPL, lot 574 (where misattributed as A-11)-T.
