THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION PART II  CONDITION CENSUS N-12

LOT 64 1835 N-12 R4+ Head of 1834, Small 8, PCGS graded AU55 . Light to medium brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are smooth but the underlying mint frost is obscured by a thin layer of dirt and natural oxidation. This cent appears to have never been brushed. Lightly worn on the devices with just a few contact marks including a pair of thin nicks on the neck,, another nick right of the upper lip, a scratch left of star 9 to right of star 8, and a minor rim bruise at the first S in STATES. EDS, die state a, before the radial die crack to the dentils right of star 9. There is a triple profile on the lips and many of the stars (from machine doubling), and the reverse is rotated 15 degrees clockwise. A new discovery, rescued from eBay. LOT 65 1835 N-12 R4+ Head of 1834, Small 8 F12 . Several points sharper but there is a dull rim nick under the 8 plus a lighter one at RI in AMERICA. Otherwise just a few trivial contact marks on smooth, attractive surfaces. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with a wisp of darker steel brown from the E in STATES to the E in ONE. Rare LDS, die state d, with a strong cud break at the dentils over star 8 angling down to just above the outer point of star 9. Struck with the reverse rotated 40 degrees CW. Called VF20 net F12 and tied for third finest of the terminal die state in the Noyes census, his photo #27501.
