EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 53 1835 N-3 R3 Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars EF40 . Five points sharper but there is a light scratch from the nose to just below star 4 and a nick on the chin. Attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown with satiny flowline luster covering the fields and protected areas on both sides. Otherwise this piece is choice. M-LDS, die state c, with several die cracks and tiny rim cud breaks on the obverse, the strongest rim cuds at star 2. An important example of this scarce variety, in the lower half of the condition census.

LOT 54 1835 N-4 R4+ Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars, NGC graded VF25 . Glossy medium brown with hints of darker olive brown in the field over the head. Smooth with minor marks including a tiny rim bruise over star 7, another at star 12, and some microscopic abrasions in the field between stars 7 & 8. EDS, die state a, before the radial cracks from the N in UNITED to the dentils above. Noyes photo #27500. Our grade is VF20 sharpness net F15 . A nice mid-grade example of this tough die variety. 308051 017
