THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION PART II  FINEST N-3 EX NAFTZGER

LOT 51 1835 N-3 R3 Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars, PCGS graded MS62 Brown . Frosty bluish steel and light olive brown with traces of mint color remaining on the obverse and about 5% of the original mint color on the reverse. No marks, spots, or stains, just a very light touch of rub on the highest points of the design. This cent has choice mint state eye appeal. MDS, die state c, with a minor crumbling in the dentils under the 35 in the date with a bit more even with the lower edge of star 2, but the reverse center dot is still visible. Softly struck on the brow lock and tip of the coronet with similar weakness in the leaves below ENT. Called AU55 and CC#1 in the Noyes and Bland census lists, Noyes photo #21336. LOT 52 1835 N-3 R3 Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars EF45 . Frosty light to medium brown and light chocolate with frosty mint luster covering the fields and protected areas. There are specks of dark olive toning peppered about the field at stars 6-11 with some more on the reverse, mostly at ES-OF-AM. The only contact marks are a small rim nick under the 3 in the date and a tiny tick just right of the eye, both marks totally insignificant. E-MDS, die state b early, before the tiny rim cuds occur in the dentils roots below the 35 or at the bottom of star 2. The reverse is rotated 20 degrees CW. Called EF45 and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU50 net VF35 and CC#4, his photo #26078 (can’t see any reason for such a deduction). This variety is unknown in mint state by EAC grading standards. This is the Newcomb plate coin for the variety (see plate VII for the 3-4-10 obverse and plate VIII for the C reverse.
