THE HELFENSTEIN-NAFTZGER N-2
LOT 37 1833 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS65 Brown . Lustrous steel brown and light chocolate with subtle overtones of light bluish steel in the fields. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has very nice eye appeal. LOT 38 1833 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous tan and light steel brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel on the reverse. Hints of mellowed mint red are visible in a few places. Sharply struck on the portrait and wreath, weaker elsewhere thanks to die wear. The surfaces are satiny but there are a few contact marks including a long scuff in the field close before the nose and a light nick right of the nostril. A small spot of darker brown toning left of star 12 is the best identifying mark. The reverse is choice. M-LDS, die state b. The dentils are dull and incomplete but the tiny rim cuds at stars 2-4 are not present (perhaps due to being very slightly off center in that direction. Graded MS60 net AU55 in the Noyes census, his photo #37586. Our grade is AU58+, very close to mint state. 37024.64/30999084 Ex J. C. Morgenthau & CO. 7/1939:724-Willard C.
