LOT 476 1847 N-2 R-3 Large 7 over Small 7 MS60 . Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. If not for a very fine hairline scratch from the bust tip to below star 1, and carbon speck right of star 8, would rate a higher grade. LDS, die state c. The die lines at star 13 are gone and there are fine die cracks at MER and ED. The date repunching remains clear. Tied for CC#5 overall but finest of the late die state c. A very nice example of this popular “Redbook” variety.

LOT 474 1847 N-1 R-3 AU50+ . Attractive, mint state obverse with lustrous steel brown and traces of mint red in the protected areas. The reverse is mint state sharpness but cleaned and retoned a mottled olive and golden tan with microscopic roughness. The obverse is lustrous and smooth. E-MDS, with the repunched date sharp.

LOT 477 1848 N-16 R-2 ANACS AU58 . Attractive tan brown and light olive with a couple reddish chocolate brown toning spots in the left obverse field. There are a couple trivial marks on the jaw and neck visible under a glass, nothing distracting. Smooth surfaces. Very rare EDS with clear repunching at 184. Our grade is XF45+. 7446976

LOT 475 1847/7 N-2 R-2+ Lg 7 over Sm 7 XF40 . AU sharpness but retoned and now attractive olive and chocolate browns with ruddy brown on the central reverse. There is a dark stain left of star 8 with traces of carbon, anda dull nick on the base of the throat, otherwise trivial marks. Smooth, glossy surfaces. EDS Grellman state a, the lines at the dentils near star 13 are visible and the repunching of the 47 is clear.
