 DOUBLE STRUCK

LOT 437 1814 S-295 R1 Plain 4 G6 . Glossy chocolate brown and olive with some lighter brown in protected areas on the reverse. E-MDS with a die crack through the lowest curl but no crumbling at the throat. This cent was struck two times. The first strike was normal and the second was against the obverse die on the obverse and a new blank planchet on the reverse thereby creating a reverse brockage. The doubling on the obverse is especially obvious on the date, bust, and neck with an offset of slightly less than a millimeter. The reverse is blunted and swollen, a characteristic of having been struck against a blank planchet.

LOT 438 1817 N-3 R-2 NGC MS61BN . Attractive chocolate and ruddy tan with light steel tones. The only marks are just a few small spots of darker toning in the left obverse field and at N in UNITED and some tiny sticks at star 2. There are also what appear to be struck through lines by stars 1 and 3. EDS, no mouse. Our grade is AU 50. The Jules Reiver provenance is noted on the label. 308253-015

LOT 440 1818 N-1 R-2 ANACS AU50 . Attractive original medium brown surfaces with natural mottled undertones of lighter brown. Only the most trivial of marks, nothing noteworthy. Smooth, glossy surfaces. EDS, die state a. Our grade is XF40. 5075123

LOT 441 1821 N-2 R-1 EF40 . AU50 but there are a few spots of light corrosion on the upper reverse, and the surfaces have been recolored. Now toned olive and bluish steel and iridescent red underneath, and a few stains on the mid to upper reverse. EDS.

LOT 439 1817 N-11 R-1 VF35 . 10 points sharper but recolored long ago and now dark steel and maroon brown tones. A tiny rim bump at star 1 is the only notable mark. Smooth surfaces. The repunching under N is a bit weak but visible.
