EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 424 1812 S-288 R2 Large Date VF20 . Slightly sharper with nice eye appeal and mostly smooth surfaces, but there is some very fine roughness inside the wreath. Glossy chocolate on the obverse with darker olive brown and steel on the reverse. No verdigris or notable contact marks. MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks inside the wreath and a strong line through the base of the N in CENT.

LOT 425 1812 S-289 R1 Large Date VF20+ . Sharpness EF45 but covered with fine roughness with moderate roughness at the truncation over the 12. Slightly glossy mix of olive and steel brown. There is a tiny speck of verdigris near the dentils above the back of the head, a pair of fine scratches before the mouth, and three tiny ticks under the earlobe. LDS, Breen state IV, with flowlined fields and a narrow rim cud at ED in UNITED.
LOT 426 1812 S-290 R1 Small Date F15+ . Sharpness VF30 with several small contact marks on both sides and traces of very fine roughness at the top of the reverse. There are several tiny scratches on the bust, a stronger one on the neck near the hair, numerous tiny pinpricks in the field before the portrait, and a couple small digs left of the first S in STATES. Glossy medium brown and chocolate. M-LDS, Breen state III, with clashmarks and flowlines.

LOT 427 1813 S-292 R-2 PCGS AU58 CAC . Choice frosty medium steel brown and chocolate. Looks mint state but there is a touch of friction on the highest points. The only marks are a pair of tiny pin pricks over the 13 in the date, a tiny tick on the end of the nose, and a thin nick in the field over the front edge of the head. MDS, Breen state III, with delicately flowlined fields and dull die clashmarks on both sides. Extensive doubling shows on ONE CENT, and some letters display triple outlines from die bounce. Struck slightly off center to K-4.5. Our grade is AU50+, very close to AU55. Noyes photo #20487. CAC certified. 36511.58/38195110
