FINEST TERMINAL S-248
LOT 391 1803 S-248 R-4 G6+ . Slightly sharper but covered with fine roughness under rather glossy dark steel and olive brown with lighter steel on the highpoints. No marks or notable evidence of verdigris, and the reverse has the sharpness of at least VG10. The date and legends are complete and clear. Extremely rare TDS, Breen state III, with a strong die crack through the tops of MERI and a radial crack to the rim from the junction of the E & R. The area outlined by the crack is slightly sunken indicating this has become a retained cud. Graded VG8 net G6 and finest of the terminal die state in the Noyes census, his photo #32609.
