EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 387 1802 NC-1 R-5+ F12 . Slightly sharper but there is a collection of small contact marks near the edge before the chin. Otherwise just a few trivial marks on reasonably smooth surfaces. Mostly glossy olive brown and steel with lighter brown on the devices. Looks smooth but there is microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas on both sides. LDS, Breen state IV early. The bisecting die crack down through the portrait is clear. Graded F12 by Del Bland and tied for CC#6. Noyes says F15 net VG10 and tied for CC#6, his photo #25908.
LOT 385 1802 S-240 R-3 VF20 . At least ten points sharper with microscopic roughness under mostly glossy dark olive brown toning. No marks but there are traces of verdigris in protected areas on the reverse. E-MDS, Breen state II, with die cracks on the reverse but no cracks on the obverse. Clear die clashmarks are visible on both sides. Graded VF30 and tied for CC#4 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF20 net VG10, his photo #26233.

LOT 388 1803 S-246 R-3 VF25 . Slightly sharper but there are three small nicks left of the lower curls. Otherwise void of notable marks with smooth, attractive surfaces. Glossy olive brown and steel with frosty lighter brown and tan in protected areas. LDS, Breen state IV, with a cud break at STA. Graded VF25 net VF20 and tied for CC#13 overall but second finest of the LDS in the Noyes census, his photo #34244.

LOT 386 1802 NC-1 R-5+ VG10 . 5 points sharper but the obverse is covered with very fine roughness. No verdigris, and the only notable mark is a dull vertical nick in the field over the hair ribbon. Mostly glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. EDS, Breen state I before the bisecting obverse crack. Removed from an NGC VG10 holder (#2038619-036 label included).
LOT 389 1803 S-247 R-3 VF25 . At least ten points sharper but there are faint hairline scratches in the fields on the obverse and traces of extremely fine roughness in the field before the face. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with small splashes of reddish brown toning on the lower half of the obverse. E-MDS, Breen state I, with clashmarks but no cracks. Graded VF30 net VF20 and tied for CC#29 in the Noyes census, his photo #26021.
