LOT 380 1802 S-232 R-1 EF40 . At least five points sharper with excellent eye appeal, but a glass reveals a few faint hairlines on the obverse including one close to the face and another over the hair ribbon. Otherwise just minor contact marks on smooth, attractive surfaces. Glossy brown and light chocolate with mint frost in protected areas. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks on both sides. Graded AU50 net EF40 and tied for CC#20 in the Noyes census, his photo #39376.

LOT 382 1802 S-236 R-1 VF30 . Ten points sharper with smooth, very attractive surfaces, but there is a strong, dull nick on the rim at OF. Otherwise this cent is nearly flawless with trivial marks. Glossy light to medium brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas. E-MDS, Breen state II, with a subtle bulge in the field left of the lower curls. Graded VF35 net VF25 by Noyes, his photo #32272.

LOT 381 1802 S-235 R-3 VF25 . Slightly sharper with a few too many very tiny ticks for the higher grade, mostly in the field behind the head. Rather glossy steel and olive. M-LDS, Breen state V, with a rim cud at RTY. Graded VF30 net VF20 and tied for CC#22 in the Noyes census, his photo #26253. Comes with a nice provenance.

LOT 383 1802 S-237 R-2 VF30 . Ten points sharper with smooth, attractive surfaces, but there are some contact marks. The notable marks are a light diagonal scratch on the jaw, a rim nick right of the Y, a minor rim bruise off the chin, and a small rim bruise over ES in STATES. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with traces of frost in protected areas. MDS, Breen state V, with light die cracks on both sides.

 FINEST EARLY STATE S-238

LOT 384 1802 S-238 R-4 F15+ . Slightly sharper with very nice eye appeal, but a glass reveals extremely faint roughness in the obverse fields. No verdigris and just a couple trivial marks including a small rim nick left of the L and a thin vertical nick at the left foot of the N in ONE (which is very easy to miss). Glossy steel brown and light olive blending to medium chocolate in protected areas. This cent has nice eye appeal for the grade. Rare EDS, Breen state I early, with an uncracked reverse. Graded VF20 net F15 and tied for CC#19 in the Noyes census, his photo #26172. To the best of our knowledge this is the finest example with an uncracked reverse. Comes with a nice provenance.
