EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 361 1801 S-216 R1 VF25 . Five points sharper with a line of tiny ticks in the field before the nose and a nick on the chin. Looks smooth but a glass reveals extremely faint roughness in the fields and protected areas plus some faint hairlines. Frosty light olive and steel brown. E-MDS, Breen state I late. Rather nicely struck for this variety with some weakness at the bust and OF. Graded VF30 net VF20 by Noyes, his photo #26793.

LOT 364 1801 NC-3 R-6+ 1/000 PCGS G Details (Graffiti) . VG sharpness but there are hairline scratches on the ear, before the chin, and behind the lower hair that earned the Graffiti distinction by PCGS. Semi-glossy medium to dark chocolate browns. Weaker at OF, otherwise bold date and legends, clear 1/000 fraction error. Our grade is G6. 36281.98/49047556

LOT 362 1801 S-216 R1 VF35 . Glossy light steel with lots of frost on the obverse. Possibly retoned long ago. Lightly worn with the sharpness of a slightly higher grade. The only marks are numerous microscopic ticks on the upper part of the neck. MDS, Breen state II. Nicely struck with drapery lines on the bust and a relatively strong OF. Noyes graded AU50 net EF45 and tied for CC#14, his photo #26012.

LOT 365 1801 S-220 R-3 Error Fraction 1/000 VF20 . Glossy light to medium chocolate with a few faint specks of darker olive brown on the obverse. Smooth with very nice eye appeal and only minor contact marks. A few tiny scratches left of the upper end of the hair ribbon and a couple more at the tip of the wreath stem at U are the only notable marks. MDS, Breen state IV, with die cracks on both sides but no cud break below the 18. Struck with the reverse rotated 35 degrees CCW. Graded VF25 net VF20 and tied for CC#12 in the Noyes census, his photo #26106. Comes with a nice provenance.

LOT 363 1801 S-218 R-5+ 3 Error Reverse G5 . VG7 sharpness but there are a few shallow pits and fine scratches on the obverse. The reveres is smooth and free of notable detractions. Slightly glossy dark chocolate brown and steel. The date is a bit weak but readable, and the legends are clear. EDS, Breen state I, before the die failures at RTY, with all three reverse errors strong.
