LOT 358 1801 S-213 R2 VF20 . At least 5 points sharper but there are small contact marks on both sides, none significant but a few too many for the sharpness grade. A pair of small, light rim bruises at the second S in STATES can help identify this cent. M-LDS, Breen state VIII, with die clashmarks, cracks on both sides, and a narrow rim cud from the U to the adjacent ribbon end. Graded VF30 net VF20 and tied for CC#17 in the Noyes census, his photo #32508. Comes with a nice provenance.
LOT 360 1801 S-215 R4+ VG8+ . Slightly sharper with minor roughness along the bottom of the obverse and at the ribbon knot into the hair. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth with trivial contact marks. Mostly glossy olive and steel brown with a hint of reddish brown under the ribbon knot. EDS, Breen state I, before the strong clashmarks at the date. Noyes graded VG10 net VG8 and tied for CC#16 but second finest of the early die state, his photo #25982. Comes with a nice provenance.
