EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 352 1800 S-208 R3 F15 . Sharpness EF40 or better with just a bit of wear on the highpoints, but covered with moderate roughness under slightly glossy dark steel and chocolate with lighter brown in protected areas. The only marks are two light scratches lost in the patina before the face. Shallow verdigris is present in protected areas on the reverse. A sharp cent that is difficult to grade, but the eye appeal is rather decent, especially on the obverse. LDS, Breen state IV, with a strong cud break at TY. Graded EF40 net VF20 and tied for CC#10 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF20 net VG8, his photo #25803. Comes with an impressive provenance.

LOT 355 1800 S-212 R3 VF25 . Sharper by at least 10 points but there is a collection of small, dull marks in the field left of the lowest curls and more at CE in CENT and TA in STATES. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and satiny and the overall eye appeal is quite nice. Glossy light to medium brown and steel with frosty lighter brown in protected areas. LDS, Breen state VI, with all the fine die cracks described by Breen. Graded EF40 net VF25 and tied for CC#14 in the Noyes census, his photo #38150.

LOT 353 1800 S-209 R3 VF25 . Sharpness EF45 with traces of hard verdigris on the obverse, mostly in the field below the ribbon. The reverse is smooth and satiny with very nice eye appeal, but there are a few microscopic of verdigris visible under magnification. Mostly glossy dark chocolate and olive brown. Rare VEDS, Breen state I, before any die clashmarks on the obverse. Graded EF45 net VF25 and tied for CC#12 in the Noyes census, his photo #62606.

LOT 356 1800 NC-2 R-6+ PCGS F12 . F12 sharpness but there are numerous scattered marks and abrasions on the surfaces and rims of both sides. The most notable include rim bruises at LI in LIBERTY, under the bust tip, and over F in OF. Medium brown with steel on the high points. LDS with the strong rim cud break from the bust tip to the chin. Our grade is VG10, putting this in the CC2 to 3 range for this rare NC variety. 36173.12/35805891

LOT 354 1800 S-211 R3 VF25+ . Choice glossy steel brown and chocolate. Smooth and nearly flawless with great eye appeal. A thin nick in the hair at the shoulder is the only mark. LDS, Breen state VIII, with all the cracks and swelling described by Breen. Graded VF25 and tied for CC#8 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF35 net VF30 and tied for CC#4, his photo #26590. A really choice 1800 cent that comes with a very nice provenance.
