LOT 317 1797 NC-5 R-6 G6 . A couple points sharper but the fields are covered with very fine roughness underneath a rather glossy light olive and steel brown patina with traces of darker olive and reddish brown toning in some protected areas. No verdigris, and the only notable marks are an old scuff at AT in STATES and a couple nicks in the write below ITE in UNITED. EDS, Breen state I. Called G6 and TCC#12 in the Bland census. LOT 318 1798 S-144 R5+ Large 8, Style I Hair G5 . Partly glossy light to medium brown with dark olive brown in the fields and protected areas. Several points sharper but covered with moderate porosity on the obverse and fine roughness elsewhere. There are traces of verdigris in some of the protected areas and the only marks are three rim nicks on the reverse: one on either side of the fraction and another at the first T in STATES. LDS, Breen state IV. The diagonal failure across the reverse is strong and the crack through OF is clear. Struck about 5% off center to K-1. Graded VG8 net G5 and tied for CC#14 in the Noyes census, his photo #27368. Comes with a very nice provenance.

LOT 319 1798 S-146 R5- Large 8, Style I Hair VG10+ . Slightly sharper but there are a few minor rim bruises on the reverse, the strongest one at the T in UNITED. Glossy light olive brown and steel. TDS, Breen state IV, with extensive die rust evident on both sides, strongest near the dentils on the lower half of the obverse. Graded VG10 by Del Bland and tied for CC#11 in his census. Noyes says F12 net VG10 and tied for CC#11, his photo #27419.
