LOT 291 1796 S-86 R-5 NGC G4 . Semi-glossy medium have and dark steel brown surfaces. There are a couple faint hairline scratches including one below the cap and another below CENT, both that blend in well to the toning. The obverse is a couple points sharper than the reverse, with bold date and LIBERTY, while ONE is nearly gone and CENT and OF are weak. Our grade is G4. 6329022-019

LOT 294 1796 S-94 R5+ Draped Bust VF30 . Sharpness AU50, possibly the sharpest piece known, but covered with microscopic granularity under dark olive brown and steel toning. No verdigris or contact marks and just a hint of friction on the highpoints of the devices. A tiny planchet flake left of the eye and another below the eye are the best identifying marks. Sharply struck EDS with a clear double profile from the hair under the E down to the chin. Graded AU50 net VF35 and CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #59122. Not seen by Bland.

LOT 292 1796 S-90 R-5+ Liberty Cap VG8 . Glossy light chocolate brown and steel with lighter brown in protected areas, particularly on the reverse. Smooth and attractive with just a few marks including a light rim bruise under the bust and a small rim dent at AM. EDS, Breen state I. The date is bold and the reverse is not upset. This cent was graded VG10 by Dr. Sheldon. Comes with an interesting provenance.

LOT 295 1796 S-98 R-4 ANACS VG8 . VG7 sharpness but there is very fine granularity that dulls the natural glossy. Slightly glossy dark olive brown with lighter chocolate and steel on the devices. Free of notable marks, no verdigris. Complete date and legends. Our grade is G6. 6207930

LOT 293 1796 S-92 R-3 Draped Bust F15+ . Sharpness EF40 but the surfaces are covered with uniform microscopic granularity. No verdigris and just a few marks including a couple faint, barely visible hairlines on the portrait and a dull dent between the N & E in ONE. Slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter brown on the highpoints. E-MDS, Breen state II, with a fine die crack through the base of TY into the field to the right. Graded EF40 net VG10 and tied for CC#22 in the Noyes census, his photo #32376. Comes with a very nice provenance.

LOT 296 1796 S-103 R-4+ LIHERTY VG10 . F15 sharpness but mico granularity covers the surfaces, smoother on some of the high points, and there is a dig on Liberty’s neck. There is also a shallow scratch on Liberty’s cheek behind the eye that blends in very well, and a few minor rim nicks on either side. Glossy deep steel and light olive browns. Weak along the tops of STATES OF but otherwise full date and legends.
