EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 288 1795 S-78 R-1 Plain Edge PCGS F12 . F12 sharpness but there is some corrosion around the bottom hair curls and the surfaces have recolored. Now toned golden olive and light browns. A couple minor nicks at the wreath left of ONE are the only other detractions. Smooth surfaces. Our grade is VG8. 1380.12/48313250

LOT 286 1795 S-74 R-4- Lettered Edge F15+ . Close to VF20 but there is a light scratch up from the bust, another on the cap, a dull rim nick before the neck, and a tiny rim bruise just left of the date. Smooth with attractive glossy chocolate brown toning delicately woodgrained with lighter brown on the obverse. E-MDS, Breen state II, with a die crack on the reverse but no bulge at the 7. The date and legends are all strong.

LOT 289 1796 S-83 R-4 Liberty Cap VG8 . Glossy chocolate and steel brown. Smooth with minor marks including a tiny rim bruise at the E in UNITED. MDS, Breen state II, with a die crack through ERTY. The date and legends are clear.

LOT 287 1795 S-75 R-3 Lettered Edge F15 . Ten points sharper with several planchet fissures on both sides (as struck) plus a few contact marks on the reverse. The most significant of the planchet flaws is a thin diagonal fissure in the field below the dap, another web of fine fissures at STATES, and a few more around the fraction. The notable marks contact are an abraded depression between the feet of the 7 & 9, a small rim bruise at D-S, and a small dent under the E in STATES. Glossy dark olive brown and steel. EDS, Breen state I, before any cracks or clashmarks on the reverse. The date and legends are bold.

LOT 290 1796 S-86 R-5 Liberty Cap F12+ . Sharpness VF25 but there are fine hairline scratches on the obverse two stronger ones in the field before the face. The surfaces are smooth except for a small patch of very fine reddish roughness at the left edge of the cap and another at ATE. The toning is a very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate with the exception of those two reddish brown patches. Overall the eye appeal of this cent is quite nice. EDS, Breen state I, before any crumbling on the profile. Graded VF25 net F12 and tied for CC#9 in the Noyes census, his photo #26245.
