EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 224 1810 C-1 R-1 MS60 . The obverse is lustrous bluish steel and olive brown; the reverse is very mellowed red with light bluish steel overtones. May have been lightly dipped long ago but the eye appeal is excellent. Sharply struck and nearly void of marks. The best identifying marks are a tiny planchet flake at the dentils left of the date and a small streak of slightly darker toning through the left foot of the second A in AMERICA. E-MDS. The fields are lightly flowlined but the repunching at the left base of the 0 in the date is clear. Comes with a famous provenance. Broken out of an NGC MS64BN holder with the Norweb provenance noted (310321-001 label included).

LOT 227 1825 C-1 R-3 AU55 . Attractive light brown and olive surfaces with maroon in some obverse fields, a couple shades darker on the reverse. Frosty, nearly fully lustrous surfaces. Sharply struck LDS, Manley state 3.0, with a vertical die crack through the ear and hair curls on the neck. The reverse is rotated 135 degrees CCW.

LOT 225 1811 C-1 R-4 F15 . VF sharpness but there are a few old hairlines on the portrait, a couple before the neck, and a few specks of old verdigris at TED in UNITED. There are also a few minor bruises on the rims, the only worth noting at the last S in STATES. Glossy smooth surfaces, overall pleasing for this scarce variety. EDS, Manley state 1.0.

LOT 228 1825 C-2 R-1 MS60 . Frosty chocolate and steel brown with lighter brown toning around the stars on the obverse. The reverse is frosty steel brown with lighter medium brown toning in the fields. The only marks are a microscopic void at the dentils under star 3 and a tiny horizontal nick under the H in HALF. E-MDS, Manley State 1.0. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS62BN (1141.62/21500894 label included)

LOT 226 1811 C-2 R-3 VF20 . 5 points sharper but there are too many tiny contact marks scattered on both sides that prevent the higher grade. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with traces of lighter brown in protected areas on the reverse. No corrosion or verdigris. A bit softly struck on the left edge of the reverse, as usual, but otherwise well struck. Manley state 2.0. Removed from a NGC VF35 holder (1667641-010 label included).
