EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 188 1804 C-1 R-3 EF40 . 5 points sharper but there are some faint hairline scratches in the obverse fields before the face and one above the hair ribbon. Attractive tan brown and light steel brown’s with frosty luster remaining in some protected areas, especially on the reverse. Nice eye appeal. Manley state 2.0.

LOT 189 1804 C-2 R-6 AG3 . A couple points sharper but there is some old tooling to minimize the obverse roughness and porosity. Olive and dark brown’s. The date and TED-S are weak but readable, the remaining legends clear. Second rarest Draped Bust variety. Manley state 2.0.

LOT 190 1804 C-4 R-4+ VG10 . Near VF sharpness but microgranularity covers the surfaces and there is a notable rim nick over U in UNITED. There Are also a few dull scratches before Liberty’s nose and mouth, and a tiny pit below the last A in AMERICA. Mottled medium brown and deep steel brown on the obverse, mostly medium brown reverse. EDS, Manley State 1.0. 84.0 grains. This is the Gilbert plate coin for the obverse. Comes with a nice provenance. Broken out of an NGC VF Details holder with the Cohen and Partrick provenance noted (5747079-017).  Ex: Gilbert (Plate Coin)-Commodore W. C.
