1794 S-40 R-5+ G4 . F15 sharpness with scattered pits, some containing specks of old verdigris, as well as notable damage along the rim after LIBERTY also visible over ICA in AMERICA. Semi-glossy light brown and light olive. EDS. Despite the issues the legends and date remain readable.

LOT 49

1794 S-45 R-5 AG3 . Glossy dark brown with spots of old glue scattered on the reverse as well as scattered marks on both sides. The most notable of those marks is a nick on the cap, a scratch in the hair near where it meets the cap, wispy pin scratches on the portrait, and a rim bump at the first A in AMERICA. Smooth, glossy surfaces otherwise.

LOT 47

1794 S-42 R-4 VG8+ . Fine sharpness but with various rim bumps along both sides as well as minor nicks on the portrait and fields, most notable at the neck and in the field under a cap. There is a tiny carbon speck behind the lower hair, otherwise glossy light brown surfaces. Weaker at the date and upper reverse, but still readable date and legends.

1794 S-46 R-3 VG10 . VF sharpness but scattered pits containing old verdigris are seen scattered across both sides, with some minor flaws in the lower hair and field behind as well as at D in UNITED. Light chocolate and tan browns, doubled date, very obvious around all the digits. E-MDS, Breen state II. Other than weakness at TY in LIBERTY and ERI in AMERICA the legends are complete and date is bold.

LOT 48

1794 S-43 R-2 VG10+ . Near VF sharpness with microscopic pitting scattered lightly across the surfaces of both sides. Glossy chocolate and steel browns. Free of notable marks. LDS, with a fine die break from the dentils up through 17, and a strong die break from the dentils through U in UNITED up through the wreath along the left of C in CENT back into the leaves. Full date and legends.
