LOT 328 1801 S-215 R4+ VF Detail, Environmental Damage, PCGS. Slightly glossy dark olive brown with uniform fine granularity covering the planchet. The only marks are a few light scratches in the hair and a faint scuff of hairlines on the cheek and neck. MDS, Breen state V, with heavy die clashmarks and cracks on both sides. Die failure and swelling has weakened the left half of the date. Graded VF20 net VG10 and tied for CC#17 in the Noyes census, his photo #32532. Our grade is net F12. Comes with a nice provenance. LOT 329 1801 S-219 R2 3-Error Reverse CAC VG Details, Corrosion. Slightly glossy olive brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The eye appeal is decent for the grade but the planchet is covered with fine roughness. No verdigris and the best identifying mark is a nick on the field over the hair ribbon. MDS, Breen state IV. The date and legends are complete and clear--including all 3 of the die-cutter errors. Our grade is VG10 sharpness net VG7. The attribution is noted on the CACG grading label. 80005.84/643577923 9

 NEWCOMB PLATE COIN



LOT 330 1801 S-220 R2 Error Fraction 1/000 F15. Sharpness EF40 but dark and covered with fine to moderate granularity, strongest on the obverse. No verdigris or notable marks. Rather frosty dark olive brown and steel. Nicely struck EDS+, Breen state II, with die clashmarks and a fine crack on the reverse. The Error Fraction feature is bold. This is the plate coin for the variety in the 1925 Newcomb reference on the cents of 1801-1803. A sharp cent that comes with a very nice provenance.
