1794 LARGE CENTS FIXED PRICE LIST
Lot 146 1794 S-70 R-2 Head of 1795, Repunched 17 VF25. Very attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown. Sharply struck with smooth surfaces and excellent eye appeal. Close to VF25 but there is a rim bruise at the A in STATES. Otherwise this cent is choice. MDS, Breen state II, Heck state 3, with a clear die crack from the dentils at TY through the brow to the upper part of the cheek. There are fine die clashmarks visible on both sides but no die clashmark from the nose below ER in AMERICA. The repunching on the 17 is visible, although it is obscured a bit by dirt caked around the numerals. Removed from a PCGS slab graded VF30 (PCGS label #1365.30/5234905 included). $ 4,200 Ex; Herbert M. Lot 148 1794 S-70 R-2 Head of 1795 PCGS VF25. Semi glossy chocoalte and olive browns with grainy crud built up in some protected areas. There are some fine planchet striations across the obverse starting above ER down into the portrait and fields, and a flake under the ear, all appearing as struck. There is also a cluster of tiny contact marks in the right field below the chin. Breen Die State II with the strong die break from the rim down to behind Liberty’s eye. 35693.25/10433594 $ 2,700
Lot 147 1794 S-70 R-2 Head of 1795 NGC AU Details (Tooled). Medium brown, olive brown, and maroon with light roughness on the reverse surfaces. There is evidence of light tooling in the reverse protected areas around ONE CENT and UNITED, with a hairline scratch in the right obverse field and a triangle dig at the wreath right of CENT. Breen Die State II with a straight crack from the rim between TY through the brow and temple to the cheek. 4355338-003 $ 2,950
