INDIANAPOLIS EAC 2024

LOT 211 1794 S-68 R5 G6. Sharpness near VG10 but lightly burnished and retoned glossy dark steel and olive brown. Microscopic roughness shows in protected areas but there is no verdigris. The only notable marks are some small digs at the numerator. The date is strong and the legends are clear (except for the numerator). MDS, Breen state II late, with an obvious crack and wave to the middle curls but no wave or crack from the nose.

 ENGRAVED S-69

LOT 212 1796 S-69 R3 AG3 Engraved. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth with a few rim bruises. The obverse is sharper than the reverse, a 6/2 split. Both sides of this cent were carefully engraved in script. “Hartford” covers the face and neck and “or death” follows LIBERTY. On the reverse at STATES is the name “Jason” with the initials “JS” in the center (JS is my best guess). Apparently a patriotic fellow this Jason from Hartford.

LOT 213 1794 S-70 R2 Head of 1795 VF25. Five points sharper with a few light contact marks on smooth, attractive surfaces. The notable marks are a few tiny ticks on the portrait, a dull tick hidden in the hair right of the bottom of the cap, a nick on the truncation above the 9, and a light rim bruise at the U in UNITED. Glossy light brown. LDS, Breen state IV, Heck 5. The die crack at TY is strong and there is a clear die clashmarks from Ms Liberty’s nose below ER in AMERICA. A sharp cent that has excellent eye appeal.
