LOT 496 1851 N-16 R3 First 1 Repunched EF45. Frosty light brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The only notable defects are a half dozen microscopic specks of carbon in the field under the chin and a barely visible rim bruise at star 6. M-LDS, die state b. LOT 497 1851 N-20 R3 Both 1’s Repunched, PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Choice lustrous chocolate brown with overtones of light bluish steel. The surfaces are satiny and mellowed mint red covers 5-10% of the reverse. The only mark is a small spot of very fine carbon tucked into the bottom of the O in ONE. LDS, die state c. The repunching on the 1’s is gone and the tops of the C & E in CENT are joined by crumbling. This is Newcomb’s old #28. Our grade is MS63. Tied for CC#5 in the Grellman census. 406707.64/16658881

LOT 498 1851 N-20 R3 Both 1’s Repunched, PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Very attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown and steel. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has mint state eye appeal. There is a touch of rub on the highest points of the devices. The only defect is a shallow planchet flake in the dentils over the I in UNITED. LDS, die state c. The tops of the C & E in CENT are joined by crumbling and the repunching is barely visible on the first 1, gone on the second (Newcomb’s old #28). Our grade is AU55.
