INDIANAPOLIS EAC 2024  RARE EARLY STATE 1836 N-6

LOT 458 1836 N-6 R6 (as a die state) G5+. Glossy light to medium brown. Smooth with only trivial contact marks including a couple tiny rim nicks at the N in UNITED. Unevenly struck with weakness at the top of the obverse and top of the reverse but everything is easily readable. EDS, Grellman state a, before the cud break above star 8.



LOT 461 1837 N-17 R4 Plain Hair Cord NGC graded AU50. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with lighter brown in protected areas. Smooth and attractive with light wear but there are some small contact marks on both sides including two nicks on the jaw and one under the E in CENT. M-LDS, Grellman state i, with a slightly raised retained cud break under the wreath stem and a small rim cud that extends slightly inside the dentils right of the date. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VF30. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. 308057-010

LOT 459 1837 N-2 R2 Plain Hair Cord VF35. Glossy olive brown and steel. A rim bruise over the second S in STATES is the only significant mark. MDS, Grellman state c late, with a slightly raised internal cud break extending up from star 4 to the dentils left of star 5.

LOT 462 1838 N-6 R1 AU50+. Close to mint state but there are a couple small rim nicks on the obverse, none significant but too many to ignore at this level of sharpness. Very attractive frosty medium brown and light chocolate with golden tan in protected areas. E-MDS with flowlined fields on both sides and dentils on the rim from star 11 to below star 12. A neat die state. Comes with a remarkable provenance for a relatively modest cent.

LOT 460 1837 N-12 R3 Beaded Hair Cord PCGS graded XF45. The “Accessory E” variety. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with slightly lighter brown in protected areas. Smooth and attractive, just lightly worn. The notable marks are a few small ticks between star 2 and the chin. MDS, Grellman state a, with lightly flowlined fields but the repunching on the left bottom of the 8 is clear. Parts of the “Accessory E” hidden in the leaves under the E in AMERICA is visible. Our grade is VF35+ . 1729.45/38166669
